On the stick, create a folder called PSP, then create a folder inside that called GAME, and finally create a folder inside GAME called UPDATE.

Note that all of the folder names need to be capitalized or else it will not work.

If it powers off while it's updating, it can be a nightmare to fix it.

It is important to update PSP firmware to correct bugs, add features or play new video games.

Any copy, reuse, or modification of the content should be sufficiently credited to CCM (ccm.net).

I always have and always will believe that it’s worth installing an upgrade to firmware for any device, whether it be a computer, wireless router, or game console.

LCFW is the safest method of installing CFW since it works on every PSP motherboard and will never result in a brick.

Step 2: Once you download the update to your computer, you need to copy it to Memory Stick Duo media.

PBP in the folder PSP/GAME/UPDATE - it is important the the folder names are ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

Then, with your PSP charged (and preferably still plugged in to avoid battery glitches), go to the games section, select Memory Stick and then select your update.

LCFW is a temporary CFW exploit that gives you all the features of a permanent CFW, but is lost whenever the PSP runs out of power.

It only takes three seconds to reinstall it, though.
